Great article Marcus. I would argue money management is an essential skill, like cooking. It truly is. I've had debt problems in the past and although I am in the clear now and generally manage money well, not understanding how important managing money is can lead to other problems, and vice versa.
For example, many get into debt because of bad relationships, divorce, etc. Or they are already have money issues, which causes bad relationships. There is a link between money and emotional control. Having control and managing money, although in theory should lead to better relationships, it doesn't always. Bad relationships still pay havoc on one's emotions and that's when the possibility of loosing control, not just over emotions but money also happens. It's a wake up call to understand the link between the two, as bad relationships can plummet someone into financial crisis and debt, sometimes forever.
