Great story JoEllen. Thanks for sharing your experience. Interesting how your career went from medical transcriptionist (which I also was) to that of working in banking, which is very people orientated.
Also as you point out, writing is very much about people, and we need good communication skills to effectively deal with people. We need to be able to write in a way that resonates with human experience. I like how you point out that there are so many ways to connect - not just on phone or in person. Definitely agree, no man is an Island. We all need others, not matter how introverted we are.
In crowds and very busy places, or even in certain relationships, I can withdraw a lot and although I carry on as normal, I still feel a level of discomfort in some situations.
