I agree with much of what you say. In the days when I did my first degree at night, I had no computer, working in day, it was hard dragging heavy books home. I did everything in handwriting. Many haven't come to terms with the fact AI is never going away. It's here to stay. That doesn't automatically make everyone who may use it for general help such as expanding their own ideas, or a broader outline, a cheat. Cheating isn't to do with using technology, it's to do with character and personality. Most people who comoleted degree's understand plagiarism and cheating and those who have never cheated are very unlikely to do so, even in the era of AI technologies. Sadly, I feel that some "tech savy" people hold bias towards AI that makes little sense, and rather than help those less tech savy, use AI to improve their OWN abilities to write etc, they aren't willing to do so. Yes, it takes kind hearts to help others but many do things not for others benefit bit for themselves. Your discussion of AI is balanced and makes sense. It can definitely be open to abuse but I think those who do that are found out eventually.
