I an so glad you eventually found a much better healthier situation. Your determination and increased self-worth paid off eventually. That was a horrible situation that showed a complete lack of respect for your right to privacy. Some people are like that. Although I haven't been in that kind of situation with a landlord, I have been in others where someone barged in quite aggressively when I was with someone in their home. The situation reaked of disrespect and I felt highly uncomfortable and disturbed. I've read of others doing same in some accommodation. Even if you are in someone's property, you have a right to respect and privacy. I think what you experienced goes on a lot in different situations. While it is daunting to leave, you had to overcome your fear of the unknown. I hope you will be very happy and peaceful in your new home, without unwanted untrusions. There are very strange people in life. Many stay in bad situations out of fear. I wouldn't ever tolerate a situation like that.
