I think many writers are too conservative. I read some comments from one who was so worried over what Medium or others would think if they wrote a story like one I recently wrote, which was deemed good by others. If you have to shut up so much and so afraid of what others might think, why bother writing. Writing is free expression, not fear and repression. I agree that we should strive for readers to be emotionally invested, that is very important!
