I think scammers target those vulnerable, as many people would straight away see through cons like "get rich overnight" schemes. They stand out like the misleading untruthful sirens they are. So these scams are well researched to target specific audiences (those gullible, etc). I would run a mile from them, not click on links, let alone believe the BS. But many do and it's like brainwashing.
