I think such words can definitely hurt especially in childhood.

…ping those words hurts my heart as I think about that little girl hearing that taunt over and over. Being called Mary Ugly as a young, highly sensitive child, I believed that image of myself until others started mirroring a very different story.

I think such words can definitely hurt especially in childhood. I think however actions can also hurt a lot, even louder than words.
