I think this must be because Ireland is first. I lived in UK up to 2008, although I am originally from here. I emigrated and lived in London, worked too in NHS in hospitals as medical secretary. I liked London but moved up north. Then things turned back so returned here. But it has changed a lot and I was never prepared for the culture shock moving back. Many things haven't worked out for me here, especially workeise. I seemed to have got completely lost. But I did positive things and now a lot older. At least I have no nasty high rents as I eventually got offered housing by housing association. The the only thing that has really worked out for me here. Maybe the pandemic didn't help but I don't find people very friendly here, at least not in the way many think of Irish, friendly, welcoming etc. I don't think it's an inclusive country and many marginalised people are cast aside. Weather has been horrible here recently for June, grey, drizzly and miserable. I had much happier days when I lived abroad, but that was a long time ago. Thanks for sharing your story.
