It doesn't always happen like that Jane. I've written good articles that many positively commented on, but there are always some people who aren't genuine and catchy titles, makes no difference. I've had lots of friendly comments but there have been some stupid ones also. Engagement should be genuine and if I don't want to engage with someone's stories I won't, and won't be forced either. A lot of stories people write are clickbait, repetitive and boring. Yet these often get the most attention! I think one learns as one goes along whose stories they don't want to engage with, but it's not always easy to identity at first and is trial and error. I know many good writers whose stories I enjoy reading and engaging with, but I am also coming to realise others I no longer wish to engage with anymore (whether in groups or not).
