So sorry to hear of this horrible situation. I have had multiple attempts of defrauding, a couple of months ago. All based in Australia (Melbourne), the bank said. Fortunately they stopped it and only 1 euro came out (this was the "test"). They tried larger amounts like 262 euro and other amounts, which were detected and stopped. The card was cancelled immediately and I keep it blocked now unless I use it. I started blocking even prepay debit card but as I had a subscription to pay last month, I left it unblocked and it was then that I got defrauded! This time it was for a Netflix subscription. I never use netflix and don't even have TV. Neflix immediately cancelled the subscription and refunded me, but couldn't under data protection give me any details of who did it. Then I found out from the prepay card company a week ago, that there was another attempt in July but as it's prepay I didn't know about it, as it's not directly with the bank. I think that was stopped, it didn't go through anyway.

We're living in a dangerous online environment and there is a lot I'm not happy about, even writing online. The amount of bots and scammers I've blocked (as well as others who have too) is totally alarming. Thanks for sharing your story. It must be difficult, as it's a horrible thing to happen.

As you already now know NEVER click on any links. It's so easy to do and last year I did this or maybe earlier this year, thinking that once I don't put in details, it should be ok, but now I know never to even do that. There is little justice when this happens, as it's often impossible to prove the defraud, and if it's outside your jurisdication, police can do nothing. They're getting reports all the time.
