Thanks Amalia. I think everyone goes with the common trend of reprimanding people doing this. I think if the "advice" is given in a well meaning way that resonates (just like a story) to another reader, surely that is putting actions into words. Many say that a writer shouldn't have to beg, plead to have their story read for over 30 seconds. I agree that it's far better to have a good enough story so that it becomes unnecessary to even think of asking for reads over 30 seconds. However, the same logic can be used for others "explaining" to these people who is best not to do. If their story is good enough so that it resonates with another reason who decides they better not plead or ask for reads of 30 seconds, then there is no problem. Both sides are being heard! I love how you see both sides, both the author's and writer's perspectives. Ultimately it is much better to have a good story, good enough to read over 30 seconds, to eliminate this issue. I think some people still put this in their story, asking for reads over 30 seconds and whether that's a conscious choice or something they decide against doing later, reprimanding won't make a difference. I think many are unaware that it's disadvantageous to themselves to do this. There is nothing better than having your story read because people really want to read it and it's worth reading and hopefully those writers who feel a need to ask for reads over 30 seconds will come to this realisation themselves in their own time.
