Thanks Nakia for reading. I don't agree that "care" and wanting someone to fail or stop writing on Medium have any association. If we care about our fellow writers, we don't secretly hope they will fail or behave in antagonistic ways, or gaslight etc. That isn't sincerity. I do believe there is certainly a lesson to be learnt from this, that some people can be as nasty online as those in real life. My regret was not leaving this group before and continuing playing the covert games. There was little honest communication or transparency. Why I continued interacting with such people rather than trust my gut feelings all along is the lesson I learnt. And also not to confide or trust in someone I don't know in direct messaging. I tried to help someone by informing them of a fact they simply wouldn't accept and their attitude became nasty and intolerant. Yes, I will move on and feel much better having left this group. Not everyone in the group either was like that, some were genuine but the group itself was awful and had biased people who treated others wrongly. It doesn't take a mastermind to know right from wrong. Moral from immoral. Thanks again for reading my story. I was definitely not trying to control this person, it was the other way around and they only wanted me to read their stories but the truth was they had no genuine interest in me or my stories. Big lesson learnt! Respect, consideration, honesty and decency are values worth fighting for. If you mistreat others don't expect them to tolerate it.
