Thanks Peter. I read a lot about him. He was greatly inspired by art and also other writers were very influenced by him. So that certainly fuelled 0creativity. He found art beautiful and having had the kind of experiences he had both in childhood and war, it must have been a breath of fresh air to him and something beautiful. He had a lot of problems which were never properly dealt with, and his childhood wasn't like one might think. His father had problems and his mother was controlling. The "hemingway curse" afflicted them and lives were lost to suicide. His books make perfect sense from all I have read about him. He wanted to live life intensely and his "code hero" characters, which reflected himself too weren't afraid of death. His lived his life as best he could, given the many hidden tragedies in his life, war etc. In the context of it all, writing held him together and he was able to use his talents amidst the troubled life he had.
