Thanks, yes that is very true. Also some just don't care and mindlessly clap without having a clue what they are clapping for. We deserve more and that was the reason I wrote this story. We put in a lot of time, energy and effort to write good stories, so shouldn't accept people who have no interest whatsoever in what we write. Problem is some people deny it's possible to actually know for sure who only clapped and didn't read, as stats don't give names. I don't agree it's impossible to know, it can be clearly seen on many occasions, especially if there are only a few reads! Maybe on other occasions if there are a lot of reads it might be harder to tell but patterns can be identified if observed. Example, if someone consistently claps that is a new clapper (who hasn't previously engaged) and if they clap on other older stories that record no reads, then it can be obvious they are clapping without reading. Just because reads don't record the names of who reads doesn't mean it's not possible to figure it out.

It is true that it isn't an exact science and there is no absolut definite way to know that a particular person isn't reading but just clapping, as someone could read and not comment, highlight or clap - and someone could clap and the two could be confused, but in other cases it can be very obvious when someone doesn't reads and only claps.
