There is so much truth in this article. Readers are consumers, and won't adapt to a writer's style and way of communicating. Each generation has both silly and smart people. My generation (a lot of 30!) need to learn and adapt to younger generations, and maybe they need to learn some things from mine. But it's not a matter of dictating and shoving ideas at anyone. When I read some stories of my generation, some can be 'fuddy duddy', that I have a hard time relating to, and I am even older than them probably - so I can imagine how a younger mindset perceives it. Too often writers think they are writing for an audience interested in everything they say, right or wrong, just on the basis of their life long experience or expertise, but how they relate to those younger and more diverse thinkers and communicate is key to attracting attention. I think many don't understand this.
