This is a great helpful insightful article Bill, with practical advice. I think embracing mindfulness could be life changing. Some people are workaholics and many work cultures reward and encourage it. I recently read about a 26 year old woman who died. She worked for a big accountancy practice in India, and was becoming ill from overwork, including weekends. Such workplaces don't usually encourage slowing down, it's the opposite. They reward hard work with pay and promotions, despite neglecting to provide a safe work environment. Safety means more than lack of physical danger, it means proper employee care and support. I like the breathing exercises, this is a great way to become grounded and embodied during hectic times. Inattention is a big problem, and does cause many issues. We owe it to others to give our attention and respect them. Stopping is also a great strategy. I came across this many years ago when I had a friend who said she always stops when things get too much. I try to do that also to reset, when feeling overwhelmed.
