This was an immense turning point in your life Jonathan. You had to fight for yourself, and those who could face the same situation. It was a great decision, as your voice DOES carry a lot of weight. It's remarkable how you have that special knack of telling something in a very human way, that I think, switches on a light in someone's head. It's like an illumination (an 'aha!' moment), when things they didn't understand before to such an extent start to make a bit of sense.
As you've stated, mental health is still under invested in, and I know in Ireland there is a lot of underfunding. There is also a lot of discrimination and stigma. It takes a very brave person like yourself to highlight these very serious issues Jonathan. Because they truly ARE very serious. The less people understand, the more ignorance and discrimination prevail - and that's NEVER good. You're an inspiration and it's tragic your career in mental health nursing had to finish prematurely. But you are still helping by writing this story and others to help people. Your voice is still making a big difference, even if you might not think so.
Yes, Trump is causing outrage amongst LBGTQ community and encouraging discrimination also.
