To be honest I don't think quotes make a difference. Abuse is always abuse and whatever words are use to describe it, reactive abuse or whatever doesn't eliminate the fact that it's still abuse. I usually put words or terms in quotes to highlight what I am talking about. I am not against the word reactive abuse whatsoever, even though how something is described is important. It's more important to identify abuser's behaviour which are often very covert, manipulative, controlling, etc. I think it's pedantic to think that quotes or loosely written words make any difference whatsoever to something horrific that is happening. I think it undermines the abusive situation, and people can use whatever words they wish. There are no set rules or laws against using the term reactive abuse. or whether it's in quotes or loosely used but there are laws against abuse and DV.
