Very insightful and helpful article. I'm struggling with this one, having today decided to tackle my indecision and fear of substack to learn more about how publications and subscriptions work. I don't want to just bash out anything in a newsletter for subscribers and want to thoughtfully plan and create a good newsletters and try to combine maybe some of my medium stories. I need to do more research on this. Ideally I would like medium and substack to work both ways for me and compliment each other, so publishing medium articles first on medium, then on substack may help get reads on medium and advertising on medium may get me subscribers on substack. I've seen writers monetize their medium stories in publications on substack, and wonder if that's a good strategy?

Medium members wouldn't want to subscribe for stories they can read on medium but maybe non-members would. Would you think this is a good idea to look into creating subscriptions maybe for only some (the best) medium stories on substack or creating a themed newsletter for certain stories and including ths in publications with paid subscriptions and free. I know it's not easy getting paid subscriptions on substack, so don't want to do the wrong things.
