Yes, Jonathan, patience does pay off, but from what I'm seeing there isn't just a breakdown in communication but of the entire site and algorithm. There are community forums and posts to entice Medium to take certain things very seriously now, as some writers see the demise of Medium. In particular, the AI debate. Some excellent writers such as Dr Mehmet, owner of Illumination publications have stopped writing on Medium due to the algorithm issues. They are campaigning for changes to Medium's AI policy, as genuine writers are suffering and AI articles are running free behind the payroll.

Medium use Copyleaks, which is renowned, like other AI detectors at giving false positives and negatives. Many AI writers use humanizers to disguise AI, and when it's put through copyleaks it shows as 0% AI. This means Medium will become an AI content mill and genuine writers will be forced off the platform. Many great writers believe their articles are labelled spam and can't earn anything, or very little, for hundreds of reads. These are very high quality research and academic articles. Dr Mehmet and his team have carried out extensive testing on the algorithm.

This is a recent article on Medium, and there is an article on substack, whereby people are asked to vote if they are happy for their stories to be run through AI detectors. This also could be preventing distribution. AI detectors are exploitative, both financially and in giving false results, and potentially block genuine writers and prevent distribution. Although the article on Medium is under Dr Mehmet's name, it is Mike Broadly who published it, due to Dr Mehmet no longer writing on Medium until the algorithm is fairly adjusted.
