Yes, there are talk shows, although I hardly listen to radio much. But certainly that kind of thing should be highlighted. It worries me how things will be in the future for me, if this is happening. I'm not young and on my own. It's a very stressful ordeal. I've made a complaint to RTB (Residential Tenancies Board) here for their mediation services, as at least they will deal with it fairly and in accordance with my rights. I find it hard to trust now. This has undermined my right to peaceful occupancy in my home. I shouldn't have to go through this over a simple routine maintenance task like replacing filers, and shouldn't be bullied and have false allegations made. I might not be the only one this happened to, but unfortunately few people speak out, or confront situations like this.
That's exactly what shouldn't be done, it's important to not let them treat tenants like that, either the maintenance company or the landlord. Initially it looked like my landlord was supportive, although I suspected otherwise. Now it seems they want to avoid their obligation to oversee maintenance and to push it onto me, and side with the maintenance company regardless of how unfair or wrong it is. I suspect the maintenance company are giving their version only, in a biased way, to make it look like I'm not granting them access. Yuck, it's horrible. At this time of year especially, when things are already stressful enough.
